Toowong Town Centre is a proposed high-quality, mixed-use precinct providing retail, commercial, residential, entertainment and leisure facilities for the whole community to enjoy.


The proposed development will revolutionise retail, hospitality, living and lifestyle in Toowong and become the go-to destination for locals and western Brisbanites. A development that encourages the work/live/play lifestyle that the community seeks.


Toowong Town Centre is subject to regulatory planning approvals – a Development Application has been lodged with Brisbane City Council and is awaiting their approval. 


  • Toowong Town Centre will deliver a range of benefits to the Toowong community and surrounding suburbs – complementing and enhancing the area’s rich urban character, at no cost to the general public.  

  • Toowong Town Centre will provide a number of benefits to traffic & pedestrian movement in the area including:

    • Upgrades to the intersection of High Street and Sherwood Road, to improve traffic flow.

    • A new dedicated bus lane along the High Street frontage, which will alleviate the traffic blockages associated with frequently stopping buses by allowing free flowing through traffic in 2 lanes.

    • New rest room facilities will be provided for bus drivers within the development.

    • Footpaths will be upgraded and widened along the Sherwood Road and High Street frontages, facilitating improved pedestrian movements. 

    • A four metre wide dedicated pedestrian pathway will allow direct access from Jephson Street through Toowong Town Centre to the Toowong train station.

  • The local streetscape will be enhanced with new and interesting shopfronts and through planting of established trees and installation of street furniture. 

  • Toowong Town Centre plans to provide a dedicated public plaza as a central meeting place, an entertainment area, water features, markets, special events, innovative lighting, and generous landscaping.  

  • The open-air plaza areas can be used and shared by the community for events and entertainment.

  • Toowong Town Centre plans to compliment the proposed Toowong Urban Common, while the Sherwood Road Central Plaza can be utilised by the general public both day and night, providing a new social hub for the area.

  • The porte cochere will provide a dedicated drop off zone, with direct links to the Central Plaza, Toowong Urban Common and train station, helping minimise traffic congestion, particularly along Sherwood Road.

  • More than 50% (54%) of the site is dedicated to public space including plazas and open air pedestrian streets.

  • Ample undercover onsite carparking will allow easy access to and from the retail shops and associated services.

  • Toowong is a public transport hub where train, bus, and city cat converge. Public bikeways and quick vehicle access create one of the most connected locations in South-East Queensland.


The Toowong Town Centre proposal includes a modern A-Grade office building with large functional floor plates and a residential tower, catering to the owner occupier market that includes the downsizing trend.A vibrant retail precinct will include fresh food markets, restaurants, cafes, a variety of entertainment options and a full compliment of services such as a gymnasium, childcare, and medical centre.
